Title:
IMPREGNATED CATHODE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01154423
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to position a shadow grid and a control grid, and to improve the electron emitting performance, by forming a control grid electrode directly and integrally with an electron emitting surface through an insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:The whole body of an electron emitting surface which emits electrons is covered with one membrane either an osmium-ruthenium alloy membrane 4, iridium membrane, or scandium oxide membrane, and over the membrane 4, one of insulating membrane 5 of either aluminum oxide, silicon dioxide, or silicon nitride is formed, and furthermore, over the membrane 5, a platinum membrane to be an electrode of a control grid 6 is spread, to form a laminate membranes in a grid form. In such a composition, the positioning of a shadow grid and the control grid 6 is not necessary, the cathode can be made strong to vibrations or shocks, and the electron emitting performance can be improved.
