PURPOSE: To enhance image density and sharpness by adding a whitening agent in an amt. sufficient to generate at least a predetermined quantity of permeation density in a film element having a predetermined compsn. with respect to white light.

CONSTITUTION: For example, a whitening agent contains an inorg. salt and a pigment like TiO2. TiO2 is pref. added in an amt. sufficient to generate the permeation density of at least 0.2, pref., 0.3 or more to white light in a film element. A matting agent is also required in receptor layers 6,7. This matting agent is a usual one, for example, silica, rice starch, polymethyl methacrylate beads or the like. This matting agent must have an average particle size of 2-10 μm and is added to the receptor layers usually in an amt. of 0.4-1.2 g/m2, pref., 0.70-0.90 g/m2, most pref., 0.80 g/m2.
