Title:
IMPROVED HEAT EXCHANGER HAVING FLOATING HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003314986
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an improved heat exchanger having a substantially reduced dead zone and low flow velocity region which cause significant fouling problems.

The heat exchanger has the dead zone and a residence region substantially minimized or removed. The heat exchanger comprises a floating tube sheet movable to the longitudinal direction with the expansion and contraction of a tube. A shell is joined to the end thereof with a conical member and the conical member is preferably joined to the shell at a certain distance along the length of the shell to form a shell expansion portion for improving a flow pattern in a tube end region. The tube has a sacrifice portion for allowing inexpensive and easy repair and replacement of a tube erosion portion with the minimum process interruption and thereby coping with the erosion of the tube. The axial flow of a fluid on the shell side avoids almost all problems on the vibration of the tube and suppresses the fouling at a high flow velocity.
