Title:
IMPROVED METHOD FOR CHROME PLATING OF POLYPROPYLENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06240462
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an improved method for applying metal plating on polypropylene(PP).

CONSTITUTION: This method for metal plating of a blend of the PP and finely divided CaCO3 of about 10 to about 35 wt.% based on the total blend consists in molding the blend of the PP/CaCO3 on the article to be metal plated and forming a chromium film on the molded object by bringing the molded article contact with an acid both and further bringing the molded article contact with a metal adhering both. Prior to the molding, about 20 to about 35 wt.% PP stem of a mol.wt. of 50,000 to 1,000,000 and segmented copolymer (where the weight ratio of the stem to a grafted chain is about 1:9 to about 4:1 and this chain is a polymer derived from at least about 80% of methyl methacrylate) consisting of at least one methacrylate chain grafted to this stem by covalent bonding are added to the blend.
