本発明は、可視光照射下での二酸化炭素を使用したメタノールのヒドロカルボキシル化反応による酢酸の調製のための光触媒法及び方法論を開示する。重要なことに、反応は、外部電子及びプロトン供与体を添加せずに、均一で半導体支持体に支持されている遷移金属系分子光触媒とCO2親和性溶媒の存在下で、容易に利用できる家庭用LEDランプを使用して、室温及び周囲圧力条件下で起きた。
