Abstract:
To provide a separator for a high-energy and/or high-voltage lithium-ion battery that are stable at a high voltage up to at least 5 volts such as a new or improved single-layer, multi-layer or multi superposition-layer microporous separator membrane.SOLUTION: In a microporous battery separator for a rechargeable lithium battery, a polyolefin selected from a group consisting of high density polyethylene, isotactic polypropylene, and ultra high molecular weight MW polyethylene, and a new polymer selected from poly (4-methylpentene), polyphenylene sulfide, polybenzimidazole, polychlorotrifluoroethylene, polyamide-66, polyethylene vinyl alcohol, and polyoxymethylene are blended, and a microporous film containing a ceramic material is used.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
