Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the oil resistance of high density polyethylene molding by stretching high density polyethylene moldings cross-linked so that they can take a specific gelation ratio.

CONSTITUTION: After additives such as antioxidant, ageing resistor, lubricant, antistatic agent, etc. are mixed with high density polyethylene of densities 0.94 or more, molecular weights 40,000W300,000 to be molded into film, sheet, tube, etc., electronic rays of 10W30 mega rad are irradiated to obtain high density polyethylene moldings which are cross-linked so that they can take gelation ratios 30 or more %. Then, these moldings are stretched in one direction at least and at 60W180°C so that thet take draw ratios 2.5 or more times. Accordingly amorphous parts of network high density polyethylene by crosslinking are oriented by and stretching and oil resistance is improved by the synergism of such network orientation.
