To provide a method for efficiently producing a hydroxylated vitamin D derivative while suppressing the side reaction in the hydroxylation reaction of vitamin Ds by modifying a hydroxylase such as Vdh-K1 structurally associated with Vdh and Vdh, and further by improving the specific activity of the hydroxylase.
The DNA encodes a polypeptide (enzyme) of which the activity in the hydroxylation of the vitamin Ds is enhanced, and the undesired side reaction is reduced. The modified vitamin D hydroxylase is encoded by the DNA. The autonomously replicable recombinant vector or the integratively replicable recombinant vector includes the DNA. The transformant contains the DNA. The method for producing the hydroxylated vitamin D derivative includes culturing the transformant in a medium, and collecting the hydroxylated vitamin D derivative from the culture liquid.
