Abstract:

The cone (plug) valve (10') has a cone-shaped closing element (22') which is rotatably mounted in a corresponding housing (24'). It is provided with circumferential grooves (84') near to its upper and lower ends, these grooves being connected to one another by longitudinally extending grooves (82'). The upper circumferential groove is connected via a bore (85) to a non-return valve (83) through which a pressurised lubricant can be introduced. This lubricant penetrates into the grooves (82', 84') and, by virtue of its pressurising and lubricating effect, prevents the closing element (22') from becoming jammed in the housing (24') when upward-acting axial forces occur.
