Title:
INCLUSION COMPLEX AND PRODUCTION THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3162465
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To convert apocarotenal and lycopene, i.e., polyenes insoluble in polar solvents, into soluble inclusion complexes and enable them to be effectively utilized in drug administration to human bodies and in coloring by causing them to be included in cyclodextrin.
CONSTITUTION: Cyclodextrin is dissolved in water, a lower alcohol, or a water/ lower alcohol mixture in a ratio of (1:30)-(10:1) in an amt. of 8-10 times that of cyclodextrin. Then, an org. solvent (e.g. chloroform) soln. of apocarotenal or lycopene in an amt. of about (1/10)-(1/10,000) of cyclodextrin is added to the cyclodextrin soln. Methyl-β-cyclodextrin or hydroxypropyl-β-dextrin is used as the cyclodextrin for apocarotenal; and α-cyclodextrin, for lycopene. The org. solvent is removed by distillation, etc., giving a cyclodextrin inclusion complex of apocarotenal or lycopene soluble in a polar solvent.
