Abstract:

To provide an independent wheel suspension having small number of pivot points on a longitudinal member and applying a considerably small force to the pivot points when a suspension arm is supported by the front partition wall.

An independent front wheel suspension of a car has a wheel holding member 21 turnable for steering and a first joint, that is, a lower joint G of the wheel holding member 21 is supported by a slantwise disposed suspension arm 31 and a second joint E of the wheel holding member 21 disposed above a horizontal central plane of the wheel is joined to a connecting rod 41 supported by the slantwise disposed suspension arm 31. The connecting rod 41 is extended upward at least near the tread 3 of the tire. A pivot point E1 is at the end of the extended part and a tension column 51 and a tension bar are supported by a front partition wall 15 of a vehicle via the pivot point E1. In the other constitution, a crank with a connecting link comprising the connecting rod 41 and the wheel holding member 21 is supported by the extendable column of the independent wheel suspension.
