Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-oxidizing induction hardened article excellent in quality by efficiently making a chamber in a low-oxygen condition with small feeding amount of inert gas to reduce the surface roughness of a hardened surface in a induction hardening device using an inert gas. SOLUTION: In an induction hardening device 1 using an inert gas in which a specified part of a long work 5 is high-frequency heated under the inert gas atmosphere to perform the hardening in a moving condition, a chamber 2 is provided, the long work 5 is movable in its axial direction in the chamber 2, a high-frequency coil 6 is provided on a lower part in the chamber 2 surrounding the long work 5, an inert gas guide member 9a to feed the inert gas from the side of the long work 5 to the long work 5 is provided in the chamber 2 over the whole length in the longitudinal direction of the chamber 2, and a cooling means 11 to cool a specified part of the long work 5 heated by the high-frequency coil 6 is provided immediately below the chamber 2. The inert gas guide member 9a is formed of a perforated plate having a large number of gas ejection holes.
