To prevent a temperature at recesses of an uneven surface from being lower than that at salients, when a metallic cylindrical article or a ring-shaped member having unevenness on either the inner surface or the outer surface is induction heated.
This induction heating device has an inner coil and an outer coil respectively arranged adjacent to the inner surface and the outer surface of an article to be heated, and simultaneously heats the inner surface and the outer surface of the cylindrical article by simultaneously passing a current through the inner coil and the outer coil. Then, in the recesses which are distant from the coil and have the temperature insufficiently raised, the shortage is compensated by heat from the opposite coil.
