To provide a low-cost induction motor that reduces power supply capacity and prevents leakage of melted metal to an outer circumferential wall surface of a rotor core in a die-casting process.
An induction motor according to the invention includes: a stator that has a stator core having a plurality of stator-side slots formed along an axial direction, and coils wound around the respective stator-side slots; and a rotor 2 that has a rotor core 7 which includes a lamination of thin steel plates and which has a plurality of rotor-side slots 6 formed along the axial direction, and conductors 8 which are cast into the respective rotor-side slots 6 by die-casting. Each of the rotor-side slots 6 are blocked at a blocked portion A on a stator side thereof. In each of the blocked portions A, a honeycomb structure is formed by a plurality of holes 10B that extend along the axial direction.
