PURPOSE: To improve the operability of a system and to set the system to be convenient even for a physically handicapped user by permitting a center system to transmit phonetic symbol information to a terminal and the terminal to receive phonetic symbol information.
CONSTITUTION: A book data base 5 stores phonetic symbol information including vocal sound information and rhythm information. The center system 1 transmits phonetic symbol information stored in the book data base 5 to the terminal 2, and the terminal 2 receives the transmitted phonetic symbol information. Thus, phonetic symbol information stored in the book data base 5 can be supplied to a user with a synthetic sound by synthesizing sound based on the phonetic symbol information. Thus, the operability of the system is improved and the physically handicapped user can easily use the system.
