To prevent the problem such as an erroneous operation and a malfunction in a host device caused by wrong coordinate input in a state where display is not normally performed on a display means, in an information input/output device including the display means and a coordinate input means for inputting/outputting information to/from the host device.
An information input/output device includes a display means connected to a host device for displaying information output from the host device and a coordinate input means including a coordinate input face for detecting coordinates of an input point optionally instructed on the coordinate input face and outputting coordinate data to the host device. In such a case, in the state where the display is not normally performed on the display means, the coordinate input mode of the host device is controlled to output a command for changing into a gesture mode during which a pattern of coordinate data to be continuously input is determined and an operation corresponding the pattern is executed.
