Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display information from a display element on a pupil over a large viewing angle, to enhance diffraction efficiency and to make display bright by directly irradiating a hologram optical element with light from a 2nd point light source in a state where the position of the 2nd point light source with respect to the hologram optical element is nearly aligned with the position of the pupil.
SOLUTION: The 1st and the 2nd point light sources 11 and 12 are respectively aligned with pinholes used for spatial filtering. The light from the 2nd point light source 12 is made incident on the hologram optical element (HOE element) 2 through a diaphragm 13. The 2nd point light source 12 is set to be nearly aligned with the observer's pupil 1 in the use state of the information display device. Then, 1st to 4th lens blocks Gr1 to Gr4 constituting a hologram producing optical system 14 are arranged between the 1st point light source 11 and the HOE element 2. The respective lens blocks are decentered only in terms of YZ cross section, and arranged to control the wave surface of the light from the 1st point light source 11 made incident on the HOE element 2.
