To provide an information-extracting method which constructs a necessary database from medical and biological documents, at a low cost and in a short time.
This information-extracting method, for extracting information from a set of documents about medical science and biology, is provided with a step in which a document including information desired to be extracted is retrieved; a step in which a part including a term instructed by a user is retrieved from the retrieved document; a step in which other terms related to the term instructed by the user are presented to the user; a step in which retrieved parts are presented to the user; a step in which necessary information is extracted from the retrieved parts according to preliminarily stored knowledge; a step in which the extracted information is presented to the user; a step in which the user decides the propriety of the extracted information; and a step in which knowledge used for information extraction is polished according to the decision of the user.
