An information storage device such as a memory card stores encrypted content and a conversion title key generated by converting a title key serving as an encryption key, and generates a subkey to be applied to title key calculation from the conversion title key. The subkey is generated by applying a host ID that has been acquired from a server during recording of the content. When content is reproduced, a host ID serving as an identifier of a reproducer is acquired from the reproducer for decrypting the encrypted content. Then, a subkey is generated by applying the acquired host ID and output to the reproducer. Only a reproducer having a host ID the same as the host ID that has been applied to subkey generation in downloading successfully generates a correct title key based on the subkey, so as to enable the decryption and reproduction of content.
