Abstract:
To execute form check of feature characters that match a prescribed condition, in addition to basic check by comparison, with a template, of the character front adopted for public documents for identity confirmation, and thereby improve the accuracy of authenticity check.SOLUTION: A "ward" is extracted from address items of a driving license and a check for space interval single character is executed. The dimensions (W1-W3) of a feature region are measured. Meanwhile, the frequency distribution of dimensions (W1-W3) of the character "ward' stored in a frequency distribution storage unit 72 is read out. For example, determination is made as to where in the characteristic drawing of frequency distribution the measured values (W1-W3), in terms of a maximum value, belong to, and the presence of falsification is determined depending on whether they fit within a permissible range. The selected character "ward" is one example, and what character is selected differs with a public safety commission.
