To appropriately count the number of people passing by in a desired area from an image.SOLUTION: An information processing system that detects people from an image and counts the number of people passing by, is configured to: detect and track people from the image; calculate a displacement for each detected person from the first detected position in a count target area to the last detected position in the count target area in the image; and count a person whose movement direction is within a predetermined range and whose movement distance is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value as a person who has passed the count target area in the predetermined direction based on the calculated displacement.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
