PURPOSE: To simply and easily extract sheets even when jamming of the sheets takes place without permanent distortion of a separation pad and a separation roller by releasing a pressing force of the separation pad provided on an automatic paper feed section in interlocking with the closing of a display unit.

CONSTITUTION: A separation pad 13 is fitted to a pad support plate 12, the pad 12 is supported by a stay 10 fixed in a scanner unit 29 turnably around a shaft 11. A torsional coil spring 14 is fitted to the shaft 11 and the separation pad 13 is pressed into contact with a separation roller 9 by pressing the pad support plate 12 downward. A cam press contact part 12a of the support plate 12 is formed to other side of the shaft 11 and then when the display unit 2 is closed, the cam face 2b presses the cam press contact part 12a to turn the support plate 12 counter clockwise against the spring 14 thereby detaching the separation pad 13 from the separation roller 9.
