PURPOSE: To enable an operator to easily and speedily confirm information regarding a storage medium during operation by sensing the kind of the recording medium and whether the medium is present or not by a storage medium set sensing function, reading out information registered on the storage medium by a storage medium information read function, and displaying the information on a display device by a storage medium information display function.
CONSTITUTION: The operator when wishing to know information regarding the replaceable storage medium during the operation operates an information display indication key 11 provided on a keyboard 7. The storage medium set sensing function 81 in a control unit 8 senses whether or not the storage medium 10 is set on a drive 1 in response to the input of the information display indication key 11. When it is decided that a floppy disk 3 is set on the drive 1, the storage medium information read function 82 reads the storage medium information 101 out of the storage medium 10. The storage medium information display function 83 displays the read storage medium information 101 on the display screen of the display device 9 at a position which is easy for the operator to see.
