PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for drawing a character string so that the character string is within a prescribed range while reduction in visibility is restricted.SOLUTION: If the height of an area is RH, RH/{maxHeight×xHeight/(θ×capHeight)+descend} is obtained as a first reduction rate by using a prescribed θ satisfying 0<θ<1. For each of the characters of a character string, it is determined whether the height of a reduction character, obtained by reducing the character at the first reduction rate, exceeds the height of the area. If the height of the reduction character exceeds the height of the area, it is specified as an object character. If the height of the reduction character, obtained by reducing the object character at the first reduction rate, is H, the first reduction rate ×RH/H is obtained as a second reduction rate. Characters that are not object are drawn after reduced at the first reduction rate. The object character is drawn after being reduced in height at the second reduction rate.
