PURPOSE: To protect storage even when the input/output instruction of an input/ output device is executed with an actual address in an information processor which has a function for protecting storage with logical addresses by virtual storage, and the storage protecting method.

CONSTITUTION: This processor is equipped with a storage protection processing means 2 which decides whether or not an object logical address can be made access by comparing a segment ring number 4' determined at every logical address group so as to protect the storage of plural successive logical address groups with a ring number 5 for protecting storage determined in a program state word 4 showing the state of a program being executed and an address converting process means 1 which refers to the segment ring number 4' for conversion from a logical address to an actual address according to the address conversion table 4 and decides whether or not the object storage area can be protected or not.
