PURPOSE: To quickly and surely designate a moving range of a cursor by moving the cursor for each block with a single operation of a pointing means.
CONSTITUTION: A CPU 1 consisting of a microprocessor is provided together with a main memory 2 consisting of a dynamic RAM which stores temporarily a document file produced in a document processing mode and a data processing file produced in a data processing mode as well as various programs, and a CRT 7 connected to a bus 5 via a CRT interface 8. Then the data consisting of plural blocks set in the row and column directions and a cursor are displayed on a display means. When a cursor moving range is designated, a boundary is detected between blocks by a block boundary identifying means based on a single pointing action of a pointing means and then the cursor is moved to the block boundary. Thus it is possible to quickly and surely designate a cursor moving range for each block.
