PURPOSE: To always grasp the context of an editing part by scrolling a display screen of a character display area, when a cursor goes over a cursor moving area and moves, with respect to a sentence before and after a cursor position.

CONSTITUTION: A character display area 5 which becomes a scroll range of a display screen, and a moving area 6 which becomes a moving range of a cursor 7, and scrolls the display screen at the time when the cursor 7 moves to the outside of the area are provided in a display part. This cursor moving area 6 is set in the character area 5. Accordingly, since the cursor moving area 6 which becomes a moving range of the cursor 7 is set in the character display area 5 which becomes the scroll range of the display screen, when the cursor 7 goes over the cursor moving range 6 and moves, the display screen of the character display area 5 can be scrolled. Also, a sentence before and after an editing part existing in a cursor position can be confirmed from a character display area in the periphery of the cursor moving area 6.
