Abstract:
PURPOSE: To select and combine optimum compression systems for compression without performing test compression.
CONSTITUTION: Image data inputted to a RAM116 are transferred to a work use RAM219 by DMA 17. During the transfer, a counter provided in the DMA 17 measures the frequency of appearance of a specific pattern and a CPU 11 selects an appropriate compression system according to the value of the counter, and compresses the data in the work use RAM219 and stores the compressed data in a RAM318 for compressed data storage use.
