To provide an information reader, and an information reading method for easily communicating with a non-contact IC chip of an optical disk, easily specifying an object satisfying a condition, and notifying the content of the non-contact IC chip, such as the content recorded in the optical disk.
The information reader has: a first antenna part 11 planarly provided on one external surface; a second antenna part 13 planarly provided on a side facing the one surface, whose size in the short axis direction is smaller than that of the first antenna part 11; and a main circuit 10 which communicates with the non-contact IC chip 32 by selectively using either the first antenna part 11 or the second antenna 13 to acquire information recorded in the non-contact IC chip 32. The main circuit 10 vibrates a vibration notification part 18 to notify information acquisition when the information is acquired from the non-contact IC chip 32 through the first antenna part 11 or the second antenna part 13.
