PURPOSE: To print out plural pictures on one paper with a recorder uniquely without need of a storage means to store a picture of plural originals by setting plural picture print areas on one paper based on the paper size and a size of picture information to be printed.

CONSTITUTION: The recorder is provided with size detection means 29, 30 detecting paper size and a print control means 31 collating the paper size and the size of picture information to be printed, setting plural picture print areas onto one paper and printing out a picture sequentially. In this case, an original longitudinal size detection section 29 detects a longitudinal size of a picture to be printed from a detection signal of an original edge outputted from a scanner section 3 or an external picture data generator 4, and a paper size discrimination section 30 discriminates the size of predetermined paper from the paper width of paper 16 obtained by a paper width detection section 2. A print enable number calculation section 31 calculates number of pictures capable of being printed on the paper 16 based on the information sent from the original longitudinal size detection section 29 and the paper size discrimination section 30. Thus, plural pictures are printed on one paper in response to the paper size.
