PURPOSE: To provide the information recording medium which maintains good surface lubricity over a long period of time by forming a protective film covering an information recording layer provided on a substrate from its front surface of a photosetting resin into which a lubricant is incorporated.
CONSTITUTION: A magneto-optical disk 1 as the information recording medium is constituted by providing the protective film 14 on the front surface of a disk-shaped memory base body 13 consisting of the substrate 11 made of an optically transparent material, such as glass or polycarbonate, and a magneto-optical recording film 12 formed on one surface of the substrate. The magneto-optical recording film 12 to be formed as the information recording layer is constituted by laminating, successively from the substrate 11 side, a first dielectric layer consisting of AlN at 80nm film thickness, a magnetic layer consisting of DyFeCo at 20nm, a second dielectric layer consisting of AlN at 25nm film thickness and further, a reflection layer consisting of Al at 50nm film thickness by a sputtering method, etc., on the substrate. The protective film 14 consists of a UV curing resin contg. a liquid lubricant. This protective film 14 is formed by coating on the front surface of the magneto-optical recording film 12 of the disk-shaped memory base body 13, by which the good surface lubricity is maintained over a long period of time.
