PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for preparatory operation for reading by providing a means reading and recognizing a code specifying kinds of information and identification information relating to all page number of a recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: An information number 3 of a document 1, a total page number 4, and a page number 5 are read by a reading section 6 and recognized by a character recognizing section 9. A controller section 11 decides address information on an optical disc 13 based on the information number 3. Then the controller section 11 ensures an area on the optical disc 13 based on the total page number 4. the document 1 is read while being unarranged and recorded in a corresponding page in the area based on the page number 5 of each page. Thus, the preparatory operation in recording the document such as page arrangement or arrangement by document type is eliminated.
