Abstract:
PURPOSE: To transmit transmission information at a prescribed quality level by controlling the switching of the transmission with a constant quantization characteristic or the transmission with a fluctuated quantization characteristic based on storage information in a memory means.
CONSTITUTION: A recorder 2 uses a DPCM coding circuit 5 to compress information data S1 and to convert the data into data 2. A system control circuit 17 decides whether a data storage quantity in memories 7, 8 is larger or smaller than a reference storage quantity decided by the transfer speed to a recording medium 3 based on a memory control signal. When the storage quantity is smaller than the reference quantity, the data S1 are quantized while keeping the quantized size constant and are stored in the memories 7, 8. On the other hand, when the storage quantity is larger, the quantization size is varied to quantize the data S1 and stored in the memories 7, 8. Thus, the transmission information is transmitted at a prescribed quality level without deterioration independently of the kinds of transmitted information or a transmission line.
