PURPOSE: To provide an infrared drier which self-controls a coating drying temperature and is applicable to a car body and car body elements.

CONSTITUTION: One or more heating cassettes 10-12 comprising short spectral infrared tubes fitted to freely movable columns 16-52 and a means which can position the cassettes always at the same distance from a constitution member to be dried are provided. In order to heat the constitution member to a desired drying temperature for a prescribed length of time, infrared radiation is operated continuously, while a control system for providing pre-adjusted sequential radiation is installed in order to keep the temperature of the member at a constant drying temperature.
