PURPOSE: To prevent adhesion of slag to the back of an ingot in dividing lengthwise the ingot produced by a continuous casting machine by providing a device for discharging cut slag on the back of the ingot in the direction of length and making it movable toward and off the ingot.
CONSTITUTION: When an ingot 1 arrives at cutting position, a lifting cylinder 18 works to hold the ingot 1 at a height suitable for cutting. Further, a lifting cylinder 20 works to about the flange part on the leteral direction so as to make the flange part 22 of the discharge conduit 21 coincide with the back of the cut part of the ingot 1 in the direction of length. The cutting machine 16 travels on the rail 13 and divide the ingot 1 lengthwise with a torch 17. The slag produced by cutting action of the torch 17 falls into the water flowing in the discharge conduit 21 and discharged to a pit 27.
