PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bottom-pouring ingot-making apparatus and a bottom pouring ingot-making method, with which the leakage of molten metal during ingot-making is prevented and the time needed to an aftertreatment after ingot- making work can be shortened.
SOLUTION: This apparatus is constituted with a pouring tube, mold base 10, mold and runner 20, and the runner 20 satisfies the following inequalities and the gaps 40 between the side walls of a groove 10a for runner arranged in the mold base 10 and a runner brick 30, are filled with refractory granular material. A-D≤D(Z/100)+2.5 (mm), A-D>B-E>0. Wherein, A is the width at the upper part of the groove for runner arranged in the mold base (mm), B is the width at the lower part of the groove for runner arranged in the mold base (mm), D is the width at the upper part of the runner brick disposed in the groove for runner in the mold base (mm), E is the width at the lower part of the runner brick disposed in the groove for runner in the mold base (mm) and Z is the coefficient of hot linear expansion of the runner brick from a room temp. to 1000°C (%).
