Title:
INGOT MAKING METHOD BY BOTTOM RUNNING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5978753
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable easy and safe sepn. of a casting ingot from a molding board without interrupting a runner and cutting the runner by casting a set amt. of a molten metal by bottom running then inserting a closing material into a pot-off port from above and fixing the same.

CONSTITUTION: A casting mold 4 is placed on large and small molding boards 6, 5 provided with a runner 7 and further a stand 3 is placed thereon. A lifting device 1 for a stopper rod is centered to the runner 7 by a lifting device 2 for the stand, whereby the level is adjusted. A molten metal is then run through the runner 7 into the mold 4 from its bottom. When the molten metal is charged at the set amt., the device 1 is operated to lower a rod 8 from a cylindrical guide part 9 and to insert the top end 11 of the rod 8 formed to the diameter smaller than the diameter of a pop-off port 7' into the port 7'. Said top end is solidified and fixed by the molten metal intruding into the gap. The rod 8 is removed together with the stand 3 from the mold 4 after the upper part of the top end 11 thereof melts.
