Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a good quality cast ingot having soundness, fine structure and a little segregation without cast defect from the ingot-making of a half- solidified metal.

CONSTITUTION: The half-solidified metal is supplied into a mold in which a feeder head and a riser are communicated with a casting space, the inclination of a half-solidified metal slurry receiving part 4 in a pouring hole to the dropping flow of the slurry is 35-55°, a chill plate 5 is arranged at the bottom wall in the casting space and a gas exhaust inclination is provided at the top wall 6 thereof, to execute the ingot-making. Further, the solid phase ratio of the supplied half-solidified metal slurry is specified to 0.05-0.40 and the supplying speed to 5-100l/min.
