PURPOSE: To obtain a compd. having an inhibiting activity against L-arginine/ nitrogen oxide synthetase and an inhibiting activity against cyclooxygenaze, which is useful for therapy of heart and cerebrovascular disorders, inflammation and immunodeficiency, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This is a salt of the formula AB [wherein A is a cyclooxygenase inhibitor having an available acid functional group and expressed by the formula RCOOH (in which COOH is an available acid functional group and a suitable residue of the inhibitor); B is an L-arginine of the formula (in which R1 is H, methyl or ethyl; R2 is H or NO2; R3 is NH2, methylamino, ethylamino, hydrazino, methyl or ethyl, with the proviso that, in the case AB is a salt and R2 is H, R3 is not NH2)] or which may be amide form. As the cyclooxygenase inhibitor of the formula RCOOH, there may be salicyclic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen, indomethacin and sulindac. As the compd. of the formula, there may be N-monomethyl-L- arginine and N-ω-nitro-L-arginine.
