Abstract:

To suitably set an initial stop position of an electric motor to operate a friction multiple clutch of a differential gear with a differential limiting mechanism.

A control device of the differential gear with the differential limiting mechanism reverses the electric motor from a point (a) which is the last initial stop position to a point b by a first predetermined motor rotation angle at a predetermined time interval after an internal combustion engine starts, then normally rotates the electric motor to perfectly engage the friction multiple plate clutch at a point c, and subsequently sets a point d in which the electric motor is reversed by a second predetermined rotation angle as a new initial stop position. Thereby, a proper initial stop position can be obtained taking the expansion and contraction of a part of the friction multiple plate clutch and wear of a friction material of the friction multiple plate clutch owing to the temperature change after the internal combustion engine starts into consideration. The initial setting position is set only when a vehicle stops or under a specified traveling condition of the vehicle so as not to render a feeling of displeasure of a driver due to fluctuation in the steering torque transmitted to a steering wheel even when the friction multiple plate clutch is engaged.
