Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for dip switches, a floppy disk drive, etc., for indication by storing a battery backup memory with information on bootload medium specification, etc.

CONSTITUTION: After a program stored in a TPL ROM 3 is started after the power source is turned on to display an initial picture on a display unit 6, the three-time continuous depression of a key 5 of the ten-key 11 on a keyboard 7 is monitored for three seconds. When the 5 key is depressed continuously three times, information required to start up the terminal is inputted as initialization processing by using the ten-key 11, the validity of the input value is checked, and the value is stored in the backup memory 4 together with an added check code. Then a bootload medium is determined according to the specified value and the program is loaded to start up the system. Consequently, the need for the deep switch, floppy disk drive, etc., for indication is eliminated.
