Abstract:
One flat end mold cavity surface carries a mechanical pattern, directly or via nickel insert disc, corresponding with information to be formed on a carrier. One mold part has a cylindrical inner surface partly bounding mold cavity, and the other part has a cylindrical outer surface. The surfaces can slide over each other. At least one surface forms part of an optionally resilient venting ring. At least the mold cavity surface and the cylindrical surface are of steel, at least partly coated with a coating which does not consist of titanium nitride (TiN) and which reduces the coefficient of friction of the relevant surface to a maximum of 60% of that obtainable with TiN, and which amounts to a maximum of 0.3 with the nickel insert disc.
