To provide an ink cartridge which can be attached to and detached from an ink jet printer for printing on print medium without margin, which is simply structured with low cost, and which can absorb surplus ink efficiently without making it large.
A 2nd acceptance part 11 is formed on the top surface of an ink tank case 2, and is sealed with an ink tank lid 1. An ink container 3 is formed inside the ink tank case 2, and is sealed with ink tank bottom lid 4. A 1st acceptance part 12 is formed on the side of the ink tank case 2. A 1st opening 21 is formed on the ink tank top lid 1 on the top surface of the ink cartridge, and a 2nd opening 22 is formed on the side of the ink cartridge. The opening surface which forms the 2nd opening 22 is arranged behind the ink cartridge insertion direction front end surface, in regard to the insertion direction.
