To assure the stable straight jetting of an ink compsn. for an ink jet recording apparatus even when the compsn. is prepd. from a highly hydrophilic substance by specifying the properties of the compsn.
This ink compsn. has such properties that a thin, uniform film of distilled water formed on the surface of a smooth dried film formed from the compsn. on a smooth glass plate breakes within 9sec to expose the dried film surface and that the contact angle of a drop of distilled water on the dried film surface is 50° or lower. Pref. 80wt.% or higher of the whole solvent of the compsn. is a 6C or lower alcohol. Pref. the compsn. contains an organosilicon resin. Thus, dew drops 21 on a dried ink film 26 on the surface of an orifice 23 hardly form a water film and, even when a part of the drop comes in contact with an ink column 24 coming from an outlet port 25, the size of the contact part 28 does not affect the straightness of ink jetting.
