To provide an ink composition capable of affording a highly sharp printed image, sufficient preservation stability without causing nonjetting even in printing for a long time, a small amount of bubbles even if shaken and having a short time for small bubbles to disappear.

This ink composition comprises a disperse dye dispersible with at least a dispersing agent, a water-soluble organic solvent, a surfactant and water. In the ink composition, at least a compound represented by formula I (wherein, m is 1-5; n is 1-10; p is 0-12; and X+ is one kind selected from hydrogen ion, an alkali metal ion and an amine compound ion) is contained in the dispersing agent for the disperse dye. At least a compound represented by formula II (wherein, a+b is 0-30) is contained in the surfactant.
