To provide a method for manufacturing an ink jet head in which a water repellent part and a hydrophilic part can be formed on a jet port forming face without generating any step at a boundary.
The ink jet head comprises an jet port forming face 9 including ink jet ports, and a water repellent region 10 formed on the periphery of the ink jet port in the jet port forming face. The surface of different irregularities formed on the jet port forming face 9 is then subjected to water repellent treatment. Subsequently, the upper layer of the water repellent region 10 formed through water repellent treatment is removed to expose the irregular part of the jet port forming face 9 thus forming a hydrophilic part in same plane as the water repellent region 10.
