To prevent a wiper and a nozzle plate from being abraded and solve the problem that ink is discharged unstably due to the adhesion of an abrasion scum (foreign article) to the periphery of a nozzle hole, by forming round an end face of the nozzle plate which is in touch with a wiper set in front of an ink-jet head to clean the nozzle plate.
When foreign matters such as dust and paper dust or the like adhere to the vicinity of a nozzle hole 18 of an ink-jet head, an ink 9 cannot receive a uniform force when discharged, and a discharge direction is instable. In order to prevent this, a wiper 3 is arranged in front of the ink-jet head to remove the dust, paper dust or the like foreign article adhering to a nozzle plate 5. The foreign matter is brushed and removed when the ink-jet head 2 regularly passes over the wiper 3. Although the nozzle plate 5 and wiper 3 tend to be gradually abraded because the wiper 3 rubs the nozzle plate 5 at the time of cleaning, an end face of the nozzle plate 5 to be in touch with the wiper 3 is formed round, thereby lessening the abrasion.
