Title:
INK JET PRINTER AND RECORDING HEAD DRIVER AND DRIVING METHOD THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3827042
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer in which the jetting period can be shortened by suppressing residual vibration of meniscus after jetting an ink drop, and a recording head driver and driving method for ink jet printer. SOLUTION: A piezoelectric element 116 is provided for the ink chamber 114 of a nozzle 118 and displaced in the contracting direction of the ink chamber thus jetting an ink droplet. A characteristic vibration takes place in the element 116 after an ink drop is jetted and a meniscus (forward end part of ink) undulates at a long period. The element 116 is then displaced in the direction for suppressing the long period vibration of the meniscus at a specified timing thus suppressing the long period residual vibration of the meniscus. According to the arrangement, effect of jetting operation on to next jetting operation can be suppressed even if the jetting interval of ink drop is shortened and the jetting period can be shortened without sacrifice of print quality.
