Title:
INK JET PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004174749
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To enhance reliability and durability by preventing malfunction due to contamination with ink mist.

In the printer comprises a linear encoder scale stretched in the scanning direction of a carriage 6, a linear encoder sensor 7 for detecting the position of the carriage 6, a high voltage generator 13, and an ink mist absorber 8, such components as the linear encoder scale and the linear encoder sensor 7, where adhesion of ink and ink mist being ejected from a print head causes a problem, are connected to have the same potential as that of a guide rail 6a. Furthermore, they are connected with one electrode of the high voltage generator 13 having the other electrode connected with the ink mist absorber 8. Since the linear encoder scale, the linear encoder sensor 7 and the guide rail 6a have the same potential as that of the ink mist, they repel from each other and thereby adhesion of ink mist is prevented.
