PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet printer provided with a compact and low-cost paper feed mechanism.

CONSTITUTION: A pressure roller 15 for bringing a printing paper 2 into contact with pressure with the outer peripheral face of a feed roller 11 and a pinch roller 5 are provided. The angle θ formed by the printing paper 2 heading for a printing paper slide face 19 and the feed distance L1 of the printing paper 2 are set properly so that the printing paper 2 fed out of the pinch roller 5 and intruding into a printing paper slide face 19 of a paper presser 16 hits the slide face 19, and then slides on a printing area L of the printing paper 2 in the state of being in contact with pressure with the slide face 19 by changing the direction.
